I am Frederik Himpe, a 30-year-old Linux system administrator from Ghent, Belgium, working at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In this blog, I will mostly write about the GNU/Linux operating system which I am using for both my job as for my personal use.
I used to be a Mandriva Linux users and I regularly to contributed a bit to Mandriva’s development, Cooker. However since some time, I became a full-time Debian user, a distribution which I was using already for a long time on server systems.
Apart from computer science, I am interested a lot in music. I listen to various music genres going from pop to rock over house and trip hop, etc… Some of my favourite music includes Laura Pausini, Röyksopp, Faithless, Massive Attack, Daan, Ozark Henry, Sweet Coffee, Amy Macdonald and the Defected and much more. I used to track my music listening habits in my last.fm profile but since a few years I am not using my computer any more to listen to music but prefer a real hi-fi set, so this profile is now outdated and does not completely reflect my current music taste.
